Onsite Evaluation Services

Our onsite engineering services support accurate data gathering, instrumentation verification, operational assessments, and thermal stabilization coordination prior to thermodynamic analysis. Evaluation-grade results demand evaluation-grade data. A 1% error in fuel flow alone shifts the evaluated firing temperature by more than 4°C, so we verify the unit and its instrumentation before a single measurement point is taken.

Variable Guide Vane inspections and position verification

Visual inspection of all rows of variable guide vanes and blow-off valves, and verification that guide vanes operate within prescribed tolerances of their expected opening angles. Miscalibrated guide vanes and leaking blow-off valves are recurring, and often invisible sources of performance loss.

Inlet housing visual inspections

Inspection of the inlet housing and air intake for tightness, blockage, and filter condition, together with review of intake differential pressure, protecting the accuracy of inlet mass flow and inlet temperature inputs.

Weather station performance evaluation

Assessment of weather station location and measurement quality, including exposure to direct sun, PV irradiance, and cooling tower effects, with a preliminary review of raw data against hand readings and reference instruments.

Instrumentation calibration status checks

Calibration status review of the measurements that matter most to the evaluation: pressures, temperatures, power metering, and ambient instrumentation, benchmarked against the maximum allowable measurement uncertainties that EPro+ requires.

Thermal block instrumentation verification

Verification of the reliability and accuracy of thermal block pressure, differential pressure, and temperature instrumentation, plus assessment of the data acquisition configuration (Historian data, PI, Depp2000 or similar) that will record the measurement points.

Fuel gas flow meter and gas chromatograph inspections

Checks of fuel gas flow metering and gas chromatograph condition, with sensibility comparisons of fuel gas pressure and temperature measurements, because fuel flow and fuel constituents are the single most sensitive inputs to the evaluation.

Onsite scope also includes review of alarms and events, operating concept and commissioning settings, test readiness checks (cooling air flow monitoring, power augmentation systems), and coordination of engine thermal stabilization (heat soaking) and steady-state measurement points, using criteria-based stabilization to keep test durations short without compromising accuracy.
